The Second Annual
Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day
Winter Sports and Fun at the Pottle Tree Farm

Saturday, February 14th we held our Second Annual "Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day "Winter Sports & Fun" at the Pottle Tree Farm in Perry Maine.  The event held special significance this year with the Town of Perry and the State of Maine officially proclaiming the 14th as Congenital Heart Defect Day.  We raised funds for families caring for children with congenital heart defects as well as increased awareness about the number one birth defect (CHD’s).

It was a beautiful sunny winter day with skating, sledding, snowshoeing, a cross country ski race, a labryinth walk and a delicious fireside potluck. The day was a wonderful success, thanks to some 54 participants, 32 additional donors, 17 volunteers and 12 business sponsors each and all who helped to make the day possible. We are especially grateful to Jim and Sandra Pottle for allowing us to use the beautiful forested and groomed trails of their Tree Farm.

Proceeds (over $2000) will be donated to the Devon Nicole House in Boston.  The Devon Nicole House provides a place for families to stay who are caring for children at Boston Children's Hospital.  Stronghearts' donation will go towards travel and food for these families.

Thank you everyone! Let us know your ideas for next year.
