Meet Joshua Beaupre:
Camp Meridian Camper

Stronghearts sponsored two campers complete with supplies to attend Camp Meridian over Columbus Day Weekend in the fall of 2008.  This is a special camp for children with heart disease located in New Hampshire.   Camp Meridian's mission is to provide a challenging adventure of self-discovery through a series of unique, fun-filled, guided activities allowing the children to realize their own untapped potential. Many of the children come from Maine and other New England states to attend.

Joshua Beaupre (8) was was  one of the campers we sponsored.  Joshua has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  He has  completed three open heart surgeries.  Joshua mother, Christine Beaupre describes Joshuas' remarkable recovery after each surgery.  After his surgery at 8 months old, he was released after just 4 days as he was pulling out all of his tubes.  Joshua continues to be full of life and energy.  His mother says he is in speech therapy because he talks so fast.

In an interview with Joshua, he shared about his experience at Camp Meridian.  It was his first year attending.  "I was nervous at first, but after the first 4 minutes I started to love it."  He said everyone played with him and then he knew they were really friendly.  Joshua described his favorite part of camp as climbing the rock wall and turning the dragon into a Samuari.  At the end of the weekend, when it was time to go home, he ran away from his parents because he did not want to go.
